Day Forty-Four Photos, Part III

This shot  looks back at  the Sierra Oscura mountain range from the plains.

As I finally neared San Antonio, I passed the former village of San Pedro on the old Camino Real.

The Owl Bar & Cafe was the prime dining spot in San Antonio. Their specialty was green chile cheeseburgers, just like the Outpost in Carrizozo. I didn't eat at the Owl because I wanted to get to the motel in Socorro before dark.

At the northern end of the town of Luis Lopez, I crossed my first cattle guard of the trip.

" Because we love New Mexico." A rather unfortunate surname didn't stop Rob Burpo from going into politics.
